"HEY MOM, CAN I RIDE MY BIKE ACROSS AMERICA"
by-John Seigel Boettner
Published by Seigell Boettner Fulton ISBN 0-9625707-6-1
If you are planning a bike tour across the United States with kids, this book should be your first step. It is not a "how to" or reference guide. It is the story of a teacher, his wife and five children (not their own) who ride bicycles from coast to coast.
It is funny, sad, amazing all in one read. The planning was a challenge in itself. Right down to how many pairs of socks and underwear would be allowed each person. It is a lesson in responsibility and endurance. Details of weather that would send most of us scrambling home in a heartbeat. (Most of us would never attempt this to begin with.)
Thoroughly enjoyable from cover to cover!
